What precisely is Nutritional Cleansing?
Nutritional cleansing is a protocol for healing that has been used in many cultures throughout history. It is the fastest, most effective, and least expensive method known for repairing a large list of common ailments (see "The List" below).
It also goes by names like cleansing, detox, detoxification diet.
Scott's Nutritional Cleanse is called that because he uses real nutrition, real food, and real meals to accomplish the results that people get.
What do I eat during this program?
There are many variations to cleansing diets, from fasting, to juicing, to nothing but soups and broths, to mainly raw or mainly cooked, but the common link to all of them is a diet lower on the food chain; largely a plant-based diet.
For the 28-Day Cleansing Program, we combine them all. You'll eat real food, real meals, some raw, some cooked, some juicing, and there's no need to feel hungry, ever. You'll eat as much as much of these foods as you need to. And for a for a set period of time, in this case 4 weeks, you organize and plan out and eat a much simpler diet than what you're probably accustomed to, and probably been eating since you were a kid. And that alone is the start of the transformation.
THE LIST — why do people do nutritional cleansing?
The biggest reason people do this nutritional cleansing program, besides overall feeling better, lighter, clearer thinking, and MUCH better sleep is because of what I compiled over the last 15 years to be known as The List, which is the common symptoms that millions of people suffer from and is completely reversable by a radical change in their diet. The list includes
Acid Reflux, Acne, Allergies, Bloating, Candida, Chronic Belching, Chronic Gas, Constipation, Cysts, Dandruff, Dermatitis, Diarrhea, Dry Skin, Eczema, GERD, Gout, Heartburn, Indigestion, Irritable Bowel, Pimples,, Psoriasis, Rosacea...
This is just a partial list.
The main reason over 20,000 participants have gone through my program is to reverse those symptoms by stopping what caused them in the first place, and return the body and the cells back to a state of health.
Is there any science behind cleansing?
The answer ("hardly any!") was different 40 years ago when Scott first started cleansing and doing classes in the mountains of Colorado.
Now the answer is clearly yes, and there are many classically trained MDs and large hospitals that understand and support cleansing regimens. Much of this change has to do with the acknowledgement of autolysis and ketosis, the body's ability to burn up excess metabolic waste in the conditions created during a cleanse.
Why does cleansing work so well?
Another way of asking this question is "How Does a Cleanse remove my Symptoms."
There are a few reasons, but the one that's the most important to understand is a biological mechanism called metabolic waste.
Metabolic waste is the stuff left over after we digest whatever it is that we are consuming.
Normally, when we eat a meal, our body breaks it down and uses the carbs and protein and minerals and vitamins and other components to run and keep the body going. And, there is almost always something left over, it can be fiber or fat or elements that the body simply can't digest or simply can't use.
In a healthy body, these things get passed through normal elimination channels.
In a body that is overwhelmed, these things get collected. They stay in the body because the body can't eliminate them.
During a cleanse, your body vastly increases a process called autolyzation, the metabolizing of tissues and cells in an organism by actions produced within the organism itself. In other words, cleansing burns up the metabolic waste, toxins, mucus and gunk that are left behind in a body that has gotten clogged up, backed up over the decades by whatever nutritional choices the host has been making. This left-behind gunk is one of the main reasons for lowered functionality of our organs, like the liver, kidneys, and heart.
When we hear of studies that tell us a change in diet can reverse heart disease, they are talking about autolyzation: the body’s ability to digest itself, to remove the sub-par material in and around the heart that is causing a loss of function in the heart.
If cleansing is so great, why hasn't my Dermatologist or Doctor told me about it?
Well, that's the million dollar question, and you'd probably have to ask the pharmaceutical industry for that one, because they're definitely the ones that lose a LOT of money once you (and then an entire society) start doing nutritional cleansing. So the answer to that question is: follow the money. Follow the marketing money that goes into our western health care model, and the academic teaching . Because there's a lot less money to be made from the healthcare industry once you start practicing cleansing.
