Why Your Dermatologist is Dead Wrong
Acne, Psoriasis, Rosacea, Eczema. Contrary to what most dermatologists believe, eczema (or acne or psoriasis) is not and can not be a skin disorder; meaning: a problem with the top 3/16" section of our outer body. These skin conditions are an intestinal problem, and the skin is only the final, visual outcome end point of that disorder.

In the realm of health, there is no greater misconception in our culture than in the area of detoxification: our body's need and capacity for ridding itself of built-up metabolic waste. Detoxification can be seen every day through ways that make sense to us, such as urination and bowel movements. But it happens in other ways, and it increases 10 to 100-fold during a nutritional cleansing program such as the ones outlined here at How Health Works. The mistranslation of this cell-dumping process is the single largest cause of suffering and misery that I see in people undergoing a cleansing program. Plain and simple, people freak out as their body cleans out. The only solution to not freaking out is education. It is understanding the underlying reasons for why the body is spitting out all that gunk.
Lesson one to detox: our skin is our body's largest elimination organ. It is one of the main ways the body detoxifies.
We can spend months, and then years trying to understand and explain exactly what is happening in the intestines and related organs to cause trouble on the skin (I have friends who have had eczema for over 40 years, and are still studying instead of cleansing). For those interested, one of the strongest theories is that the intestines have gotten thin and full of holes, allowing the content of the intestines to leak out into our body. Since our culture has a habit of naming every step of the way to ill-health, all conditions need a name, and this "small holes in the intestines" needs one, too. It's called Increased Intestinal Permeability, which is simply 3 words that say, "thousands of pinholes in the intestinal wall that allows the poop to seep out into surround tissue and blood stream. This obviously irritates the heck out of the immune system, the skin system, the everything system; thus, the XYZ skin symptom." Instead of metabolic waste being handled through its normal channels, it's now spread out over every cell of the body. The skin, doing the best job it can to keep the person alive and not dying from septic shock, pushes this waste out through every pore it can.
I personally choose to not spend months and years understanding exactly what is happening in the body to create eczema. Or psoriasis. Or rashes. Or bumps, or acne, or itching, or yeast or any of the other 240 skin problems. Doing so is like looking across a battle field that contains thousands of wounded, and naming the hundreds of different injuries that you see, cataloging each one, and thinking that they each have a different cause. "This wound was caused by a piece of 1-inch shrapnel coming down at a 50º angle directly through the shoulder..."
Instead, I focus on one simple thing, because it has never failed to clear up the problem: cleansing. Meaning, remove foods that are processed, and add foods that are whole, in a way that allows the body to regenerate the organs back to normal function.
Any attempt to treat eczema merely at the skin level will fail miserably. Worse, it often will result in visually blocking the symptoms so that we think everything is now okay. This is the role that steroid creams play. Like painting a damp wall in ones basement to cover up the mold, it only makes our eyes comfortable. It does nothing to alleviate the cause, and in fact is a recipe for a larger and bigger disaster to appear later on (ask those who've gone the cortisone route).
If we have used any antibiotics, antihistamines, birth control pills, cortisone, Aspartame (the ingredient in anything labeled "diet"), pharmaceutical drugs, food additives, food coloring, or just eaten a standard American diet for years, then the skin will do everything it can to help remove this from the body. During a cleanse, this process can take 2 weeks to a few months. But really, who cares how long it takes? Don't you just want a body that is clean? Don't you simply want a system who's bloodstream is free of debris?
During your cleansing lifestyle, start to see these physical changes as nothing but a positive thing! Your cells are finally getting the breathing room they've wanted for years. If you have not started your cleanse program yet, START NOW. Learn the process by reading the book and listening to the CDs. Get inspired from others. Stop making excuses and make cleansing a part of your everyday lifestyle.

PS: a challenge to your classically trained dermatologist: If you doubt the that cleansing will work to clear up your patient's skin, here is the bet we've made for years at How Health Works: Give us a client that has acne, psoriasis, rosacea, or eczema. Get their agreement to work with us. Then send us some photos and their contact information. we will then take this person through simple cleansing program. Our promise is that we will clear up the skin problem at least 90% within four months. In return, all we ask is to publish the before and after pictures, along with their success story. If we don't clear up 90% of the problem within 4 months (that's 4 months maximum, it may happen sooner), we will give that client ((or the dermatologist) $500 cash. Contact us here.
